The Porada Calin armchair was designed by Gabriele and Oscar Buratti and arrived with Porada's collection at Salone del Mobile 2023. The name comes from French: «câlin» means a cuddle. That's exactly what the back does. A band of curved wood starts at one armrest, wraps behind you and ends at the other. It's a compact chair, made to sit happily in a corner.
Walnut and a swivel base: how the Porada Calin armchair is made
The back is curved plywood in a Canaletto walnut finish, with an exposed edge that shows the wood's layers. Underneath sits a swivel metal base. Seat and back are padded with synthetic fiber, and the cushions have removable covers in Porada's fabric range. The side cushions come off too. Like every Porada piece, Calin is made in Italy, in Cabiate, north of Milan.
Where it works best
Next to a bookcase, with a floor lamp behind it, Calin becomes the reading chair. Place two facing the sofa and you have a conversation corner; the swivel base lets you turn toward whoever is talking. It also suits a bedroom or a home office, where you need real comfort in a small footprint. Want something roomier, also in walnut? Look at the Porada Copine Wood armchair.
Our advice
Choose the fabric with the walnut in mind. Light, natural tones make the wood stand out; darker ones give the chair a cozier, evening feel. At our showroom in Messina, Italy, you can try it and compare Porada fabric swatches. We send a tailored quote fast. And if another authorized Porada dealer has quoted you for the same Calin in the same fabric, we'll match it or beat it.
