Paola Navone has always brought distant worlds together: the craftsmanship she discovered travelling in Asia, precious materials and a good dose of irony. For Baxter she designed Nepal, a small armchair that blends the inviting softness of Mongolian fur with an essential metal frame. The name says it all: high plateaus, cold air, warm blankets and bright colours.
A soft sculpture
Seat and back are fully covered in long-haired natural fur, offered by Baxter in bright shades as well as natural tones. The metal frame stays slim and almost disappears, so the eye goes straight to the material, which seems to move with the light. It is a piece that never goes unnoticed and gives instant character to a reading corner, a bedroom or an entrance.
Three ways to sit
The Nepal armchair is compact, perfect even where space is tight. The rocking version is the one Baxter itself calls the most eccentric and original: the same fur on two curved runners that invite you to sway. Nepal Mama is the big sister, wide and welcoming, to share or to enjoy alone. Down cushions covered in fur complete the family.
Our advice
Nepal works best as an accent: a single coloured armchair next to a neutral sofa transforms the room. In our showroom you can sink your hands into the fur and see the colours in person, which photos never quite capture.
