The Lema Blanca armchair is a design by Roberto Lazzeroni, launched by Lema at the 2024 Salone del Mobile in Milan. Lazzeroni, who drew the Victor desk for Lema back in 2008, starts from the classic tub chair, the kind whose back curves all the way around you. Then he opens it up. A gap cut into the back breaks the line, takes visual weight off the chair and makes it easy to move. Lema talks about balancing comfort, lightness and sturdiness, and shows Blanca with a wide range of tables.

Seat and back are upholstered. The sides rise to become the arms and wrap around the seat, which from the side looks suspended between them. The opening in the back is practical too: that is where your hand goes when you pull the chair out. Upholstery comes in fabric, leather or faux leather from the Lema swatch books. The seat cover is removable; the back cover is not, which is worth knowing if kids eat at the table.
At the dining table and beyond
Blanca was designed as a dining armchair, but the arms and padding make long dinners easy, so it also works at a desk or in a bedroom.
