A rigid leather shell holding wide, deep seat cushions. From across the room Budapest looks strict. Sit down and it changes your mind. It was the first sofa Paola Navone designed for Baxter, and it is still the crispest of the family: linear or sectional, with daybed, ottomans and loose pillows. Got a quote elsewhere? Budapest was the first sofa Paola Navone designed for Baxter. It opened a long partnership that later gave us Budapest Soft, Miami and the Nepal armchair. The starting idea is strict: a rigid leather-covered shell that holds wide, enveloping seat cushions. Baxter calls the comfort "almost unexpected." That is exactly how it feels the first time you sit down.
The frame is honeycomb-core fir and poplar. It rests on metal feet in raw brushed metal or matte gunmetal, sealed with a clear anti-oxidation varnish. Seat cushions are filled with washed, sterilized goose down. Stitching traces every edge of the leather, much like a tailored jacket. In Baxter's Plume leather the sofa feels softer and more natural to the touch, and some of its rigor relaxes.
Same designer, same modules: identical widths, depths of 110 or 140 cm (43 or 54.5 in), height of 76 cm (29.75 in). What differs is the build. Budapest keeps its cushions inside the rigid shell, with taut lines that suit an architectural living room. The Baxter Budapest Soft sofa is the relaxed version: soft leather, raw-edge seams, a deeper, more enveloping seat and big cushions you sink into. If you like order, choose Budapest. If you want a Sunday-afternoon sofa, choose Soft.
The linear sofa comes 240 or 300 cm wide (93.5 or 117 in) at 110 cm deep, or 300 cm in the 140 cm deep version. For sectionals there are arm modules from 120 to 275 cm, armless modules from 95 to 250 cm, 115 and 150 cm corners, end units and a 110 × 200 cm daybed. Ottomans 40 cm high and pillows in 48, 60 and 75 cm sizes finish the layout. One set of pieces covers a short wall or a large family corner.
You only really understand Budapest and Budapest Soft by sitting on them, and leather should be seen in daylight. In our Messina showroom we show you samples and layouts and help you decide. Your custom quote comes back quickly. Already have an offer for the same sofa in the same configuration from another authorized Baxter dealer? We will match it or beat it.
